How it All Began

In 1962, Vince Lombardi led the Green Bay Packers to a championship title over the New York Giants in a 16-7 victory.  Coach Lombardi was notorious for his leadership skills, the standards he held his players to, and his viewpoints on football and life.  The very same year, the residents of the newly formed Southern Lehigh School District joined forces to establish the Southern Lehigh Youth Football Association with the same values for the love of their children and their game.

Since 1962, the Southern Lehigh community has worked hard to encourage its youth to maintain the same values of hard work and perseverance on and off the football field to overcome obstacle after obstacle and not only survive but flourish regardless of any adversity.

More recently, SLYFA has aspired to new heights by structuring the youth football program after the Southern Lehigh School District program and following their lead in all-things-football in order to provide an improved experience for our youth football players.  Through teamwork and camaraderie, SLYFA has spearheaded this concept in the CYFL to not only improve the achievements our youth sees in the fall but has come to offer increased opportunities such as flag football in both the winter and the spring.

Ultimately, the road from 1962 to the present day has helped to develop a strong, close-knit family bond forged in the passion our community has for its children and the sport of football.  That same passion spreads daily and through the support of the community will continue to grow and strengthen.

GO SPARTANS!!!

“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

-Vince Lombardi
