SOUTHERN LEHIGH YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION CODE OF CONDUCT (For Parents, Volunteers, and Fans of the Southern Lehigh Youth Football Association)
- I will remember, children participate to have fun and that the game is for the youth, not for my personal desire to win or coach specific children, including my own.
- I, and my guests, will be a positive role model for players and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, managers, coaches, officials, cheerleaders, and spectators at every game, practice or other sporting event.
- I, and my guests, will not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as: booing, taunting, refusing to shake hands and/or using profane language or gestures.
- I will teach the youth to play by the rules and use good sportsmanship, while not encouraging any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and well-being of the athletes.
- I will demand athletes to respect other players, coaches, officials, and spectators regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.
- I will emphasize teamwork, discipline, skill development, and giving one's best effort as criteria for determining a successful football season, not a win/loss record.
- I will respect the officials, coaches, and SLYFA officers' authority during games, practices, and events and I will never question or confront them at the game field or venue, and I will request to speak with said personnel at an agreed time and place.
- I will praise all players and personnel for doing their best and never ridicule or humiliate any player or personnel for making a mistake or losing a competition.
- I will demand a sports environment for my child and others that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol therefore I, and my guests, will refrain from their use at all events.
- If I have applied to be a coach, I have submitted my name and personal information and authorized and agreed to a Criminal History Check and Child Abuse Report at my expense. By submitting, I understand that I could be denied a coaching position due to an unfavorable record.
